My Winter Race Calendar

Sure, it might be getting a bit nippy outside and yes, the last thing I might want to do is bundle up for freezing road race. But running isn't a seasonal sport and I've got goals on my mind (after all, aren't summer bodies made in the winter?) 😉 So I'm holding myself accountable and packing the next few months with exciting races all over the Southeast. Charlotte #fitfam: I want to know who's going to brave the cold with me. Comment below which ones you will be running!

Winter Race Calendar

Electric City Gobbler 5k - Nov. 24, Anderson, SC

Ah, the Turkey Trot, aka the most obligatory race of the year. It's the annual rite of passage to the Thanksgiving Day table, and the only thing that keeps me from drowning in post-meal guilt. So of course I'm making a Thanksgiving Day appearance at my hometown's run. Also, I'm pretty sure I've run this race for the past, I don't know, 10 years!?
On the off chance that any of you will be spending your Turkey Day in good ol' Anderson, you have to join me!

Hot Chocolate 15k - Jan. 22, Atlanta, GA

This is one of those races that has been on my radar for quite some time now. But considering Atlanta is about a 5-hour drive (without traffic) from home, I've put this one on my bucket list. Well, this year I'm gearing up for the journey. And I'd love to say that my intentions for running this race are sparked purely by my eagerness to kick the new year off right, but I have to admit that the promise of chocolate fondue and, of course, hot chocolate, waiting at the finish line might have something to do with it.

The Big Game 4-Miler - Feb. 4, Charlotte, NC

I ran this race two years ago and absolutely had a ball. Everyone dresses up in their favorite football team's colors and the high-anticipated costume contest ensures that you will spot an outrageous body painted fan or two. But it just so happens that this year's run falls on the same day as my mom's birthday. So if momma bear decides to lace up her kicks, I'm in.
Get your team's jersey ready and reserve your spot for this high-energy race.

Charlotte 10-Miler - Feb. 18, Charlotte, NC

Since I don't have any half-marathons on my agenda for the next few months, this will be the big ticket race that I will be training for. Now I know that February is pretty notorious for being a brutally cold and unpredictable time of year, but I'm taking a no-excuses attitude to the starting line. I'm going to conquer any curveballs mother nature throws my way and I'm going to tackle those ten miles of South Charlotte's greenway.
Who else is going to be a trooper with me? Sign on the dotted line here.
